Dr. David Sacks
Chief clinical officer
David Sacks is a licensed clinical psychologist and a consultant for athletes and other elite performers. He is a 1992 graduate of Stanford University (B.A. English; M.A. Education), where he was also a captain of the wrestling team. David earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University in 2003, and he trained as psychology intern and postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University. He has held faculty positions at Vanderbilt, Florida State, Nova Southeastern University, Flagler College, and Ross University School of Medicine. Within these roles, David has led several training programs for interns, postdocs, and early-career professionals.
In both his therapy and consultation work, David helps others to make specific adjustments in their ways of operating and, importantly, to understand the “bigger picture” in order to achieve lasting change. He uses a strengths-based approach to allow his clients to discover the best version of themselves. David has worked with thousands of clients, including award-winning scholars, NCAA champions, professional athletes, musicians, service members, and other diverse individuals and groups from all walks of life. In addition to his role with Mindflow, he is the owner of Nashville Performance and Psychology, where he specializes in working at the intersection of mental health concerns and psychological aspects of performance.
Since his days of wrestling for the Stanford Cardinal, David has remained involved with the sport and continues to coach wrestling on a volunteer basis. When he’s not helping clients achieve their goals, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and fishing from his kayak.
